Coming out of the First Shabbos in Freeborn,
the program is off to a great start. Already
on the first day, The sound of learning could
be heard reverberating through the halls of
the Yeshiva. Following two sports activities,
supper was served and the buses were off to
an aquatic facility in nearby Albert Lea where
talmidim enjoyed swimming, sliding, and diving
on world-class equipment. Thursday found the
bochurim on their way to a much anticipated
destination.......Wal-Mart ( where over 1,300
cans and bottles of various refreshments were
purchased.) Although that would have been enough
to satisfy the recreational needs of anyone,
ice-skating, bowling, And A BBQ were thrown
in for extra thrill.
Friday, after a fulfilling day of learning
and sports, many talmidim took a short walk
to the lake shore to help the honorable mayor
of Freeborn unearth a sunken sea-wreck (and
go to Mikvah). Shabbos arrived, and with it
the wonderful aroma of chicken- soup and kugel.
The yeshiva was privileged to spend quality
time over shabbos with Rabbi Moshe Feller,
head shliach to Minnesota who shared many
warming stories and insightful thoughts on
life with his spellbound audience. On Shabbos
afternoon, the twizzlers consumed were outnumbered
only by the lines of tanya memorized for the
Exciting TBP program.
If anyone was expecting an early night after
Shabbos, it was not to be. Although the bochurim
sent their best and finest, The staff of YKM
still managed to clobber the campers 57-48
in a heart-pounding basketball tournament.
The first week was great and the week ahead
is sure to follow on it's heels.
